That's it. Judges will review the submissions and the top 8 routines will advance to the next stage.

Rules

Gear Requirements

• Any turntable or portable vinyl turntable..

• Any mixer or portable fader.

• Vinyl or Control Vinyl (Serato, Traktor, Rekord Box, DJAY, PHASE).

• No digital controllers (Rane One, DDJ, CDJ etc.).

Video Rules:

• Your videos MUST be recorded in 1 take.  No stopping the video. No editing or visual effects.

• Audio should be high quality. Please record with a wired connection directly from your mixer or your audio interface and not using a mic. 

• Open qualifier video must be uploaded to Instagram with the hashtag #SoFreshBattle2023 for consideration.

Beat Selection: 

• Round 1: Must Use A Beat from the SoFresh 2023 Looper

• Round 2: Must Use A Beat from the SoFresh 2023 Looper

• Round 3: ISP Will Select Final Round Beat

Sample Selection: 

• Round 1: Any scratch routines and samples welcome.

• Round 2: Must incorporate at least one phrase and the classic "Ahhh" sample into routine.

• Round 3: Must incorporate any sample that clearly says "FRESH" into the routine. (Example: "Cut it up Fresh!")

Judged On:

Judges will evaluate entries based on:

• Musicality (Style / Flow)

• Technicality (Control / Cleanliness / Techniques)

• Originality (Uniqueness / Creativity)
